Mis-en-scene Task
In this
picture from the film Batman vs. Superman we can see that Superman is rated
quite highly just from this one scene has he is surrounded by all his fans
wanting to touch him which clearly shows he is highly regarded and respected in
this city.
Costume:
The use of costume makes this scene very iconic
due to the fact that this suit is very recognisable as the blue and red colours
which could be interpreted as being as being very patriotic as Superman has
similar colours as well as always serves his country in that manner.
Lighting:
The use of having dark colours near and around Superman
creates the idea that they are living in quite a dark world and is quite misty
and moody. However the use of having a big bold light on Superman himself creates
and idea of him being someone they can look up to and maybe there is some hope
as he is the opposite of the nearby surroundings. As they are all dressed in
dark colours however superman is wearing quite bright colours helping him stand
out more to the viewer.
Actor (Placement):
By having superman the main focus of this picture it creates an idea of him being their main hope and this can therefore add on the fact that he is the people's only
hope and is largely looked up to, due to that fact that he may be the only one that can save them. As well as by having several people trying to touch him makes him look quite valued which creates the idea that he is quite highly regarded and it is abnormal to be able to touch him and therefore makes it feel special.
Make Up:
There is no
stand out make up on show on Superman however the people surrounding him are
covered in masks and face-paint to represent the day of the dead in the Mexican
culture where they dress up as dead people.
Props:
There are no real props on show in this scene.
Setting:
From this scene in the movie it is quite hard to tell the location of this occurring
however we the viewer could guess it is based in Mexico due to the fact that
the people surrounding Superman are dressed for the occasion of the day of the
dead which is only in the Mexican culture.
