Sound Analysis Task

The Impossible (2012)

Firstly, all the sound is diegetic sound. So, diegetic sound comes from the world of the film we are watching. This could include dialogue by characters in the scene or music or other sound that comes from a source we would naturally expect that sound to come from, example: a radio or a TV.
At first the sound being made was the sound by the sea which was just located behind the trees and the accommodation was located in front of the trees. Slowly the sound of the sea started to get louder and the producer did this slowly every second because it created suspense for the audience  and therefore make the opening scene more intriguing by just sound and no dialogue yet.t. Once the noise went very loud that indicated that the wave was coming towards them and the people started panicking and the wave was to strong that it just wiped everything away in its path and the sound produced was the impact of when the water was hitting and smashing away everything in its way. Finally, you could hear the sounds of people screaming in the water calling out for help and people looking for their families. Most of the sounds being produced was parallel sound. Parallel sound is music we would normally expect to hear accompanying a scene, example: soft romantic music might be played over a love scene. The whole scene is very intriguing because of the choice of sound in the background. On top of this the use of having it all diegetic makes it seem very natural and provides a sense of realism.
